Portree Independent Hostel is ideally located in the centre of Portree, the picturesque capital of the Isle of Skye. Portree is Clan Macdonald territory.
The National Geographic Traveller magazine ranked the Isle of Skye as the 4th best Island in the world. BBC Nature's Calendar described the island as "Scotland in miniature" because of its diverse range of scenery.
The hostel, once the main post office for the island, has been converted into a hostel with bags of character whilst being well provided with excellent facilities.
The spacious kitchen and dining room, housed in the original sorting room, is the perfect place to meet other backpackers whilst enjoying the fabulous view across Portree Bay to the Cuillins from the window.
The reception and lounge is the original post office counter area, still with the original safe, clock, service counter and nowadays has a Internet access, WiFi and comfy sofas.
